What is “Copia?”

In classical rhetoric, copia refers to a collection of words, phrases, and ideas that could be drawn from to discover ideas, communicate persuasively, and enrich language. In other words, copia facilitates invention. In Yvainean* rhetoric, copia is a maximalistic collection of activities, ideas, media artifacts, theories, fun facts, places, people, and memories that—individually and in interaction with each other—inspire action. Copia leads to curiosity, exploration, sharing, creativity, engagement, play, and other joys. This page a tasting menu of my copia. Keeping it helps me keep my work grounded in joy and the politics of pleasure. I hope you’ll keep a personal copia, too!
